Basic Black, Evergreen, Freedom Blue, and Ice
The solids seem to be comprised of four different colors--Freedom Blue, Evergreen, Basic Black, and Ice. While in two of these glazes (Ice and Basic Black) the solid color completely covers the pieces, the other two (Evergreen and Freedom Blue) have a lighter color of glaze inside the pieces with a cup structure. At first glance, Evergreen blends very well with the Virginia and Whispering Pines patterns for those who might want to mix and match different colors in their dinner service sets and it would appear that Freedom Blue may blend well with Rachel's Garden or Martha's Flowers.Ice salad plate |

I have an Ice bowl left from the full set of dinner dishes we got when we were married in 1970. There may be some other pieces somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWe drove through Laurel Bloomery on the way home from the N.C. High Country and it made me think about seeing if Iron Mountain Pottery was still around. Sorry to hear it's not!
Did you find any other Ice pieces in addition to the bowl? I love their mugs!
DeleteAnyone with any pieces of Basic Black for sale? Would really like to find dinner plates but interested in all pieces
