Monochromes

Plum Red and Pond Mountain

There were two monochrome patterns of stoneware from Iron Mountain--Plum Red and Pond Mountain.  Monochrome is defined by Wikipedia.com as: "Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker color, gray or black." Pond Mountain, in particular, seems to come in many different hues of green as witnessed by the pieces I have in my collection.  I have very few pieces of Plum Red, but it is often confused with the Peach Blossom pattern.

  2. The Olive Green pattern is named POND MOUNTAIN. The glaze is derived from iron, whch in a reduction firing cycle turns the glaze a Celadon green.
