Plum Red and Pond Mountain
There were two monochrome patterns of stoneware from Iron Mountain--Plum Red and Pond Mountain. Monochrome is defined by Wikipedia.com as: "Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker color, gray or black." Pond Mountain, in particular, seems to come in many different hues of green as witnessed by the pieces I have in my collection. I have very few pieces of Plum Red, but it is often confused with the Peach Blossom pattern. |

can anyone tell me about iron mountain stoneware olive green?
ReplyDeleteThe Olive Green pattern is named POND MOUNTAIN. The glaze is derived from iron, whch in a reduction firing cycle turns the glaze a Celadon green.
ReplyDeleteI have two of the small and two large pond mountain ashtrays but really can't find much information on them.
